Four Oberlin students who are members of the Entrepreneurship Club and took the Introduction to Entrepreneurship class interned at Northeast Ohio’s premier pre-seed incubator, Flashstarts this summer. These four students beat out nearly 500 students who applied to earn one of the 20 open positions. While there they worked on startups ranging from energy companies to bridal businesses.
The students who won these coveted spots are, Andrew Dame, Eduardo Sienra Lempeke (co-chair of the entrepreneurship club), Loubna El Meddah El Idrissi, Katie S Kim (LaunchU winner 2018). This is the second year Oberlin students have won an internship with this organization.
These students were also part of the first class to participate in the Summer on the Cuyahoga program. Two local Oberlin alumni, Heidi Milosovic and Katherine Readey, served as sponsors for Oberlin’s participation. The program brings in students from Colgate University, Cornell University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Case Western Reserve University, Smith College, Denison, The University of Chicago and now Oberlin. It provides dorm housing at Cleveland State University and introduces students to employers across the region while also engaging them in all the fun and cultural activities the Northeast Ohio area has to offer.
