Sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Gofundme, and Patreon are the newest ways that entrepreneurs are courting investors. The sites allow people to post their ideas, businesses, and inventions for the public too see; if a person wants to invest, they receive a kickback, such as the item at a discounted price, a t-shirt, or just a thank you depending on the amount donated. The sites offer a platform similar to a social media network, where users can comment on projects, view images and videos, and reach out to the people posting projects. Each site is different and has its positives and negatives, but crowdfunding sites are a great tool for entrepreneurs to gain publicity and funding.
